How a duel works
Set the pace
Each discipline has a count and a rhythm: so many pages a day, so many sessions a week. That count is the rival’s output. Yours starts at zero and moves only when you log the work.
The live week
During the week the rival’s mark advances on the pace you set. Yours advances when you log. The duel page shows both, in whole numbers. If a target does not divide evenly across the days, the rival’s side of the mark rounds up.
The close
When the week settles, the scores are compared. Matching the rival is a week score of 100. Going past them can reach 150. A win, a loss, or a draw stays on the record. A note can arrive that says only “Progress Check.”
The four-week review
Every four weeks the rival’s output is reviewed on each discipline. If you are behind, that output comes down by a quarter, so the next stretch is one you can actually keep. If you are clearing the mark by a quarter or more, the rival’s output rises by a tenth. Counts are rounded to a whole number that makes sense. You are told when the pace changes.
Standing
Growth is the running total of your weekly scores since you started, including the week still open. Ranks sit on that total, from Unmarked through Myth. It is not a single week’s percentage. It is the weight of the weeks you have already kept.
The term
A duel can last one month, three months, six months, a year, or stay open until you end it.
Other people
With an individual or annual plan, you can keep as many rivals as you want, and send a challenge to someone who has shared a seal. They accept or decline on a scroll. Commons opens with Plus. Chat is the left side. Thread is the right, where challenges and people at the same pace live. The rival on your own contract is not in the message list. Crew is the host and three friends.
